Hisar is in the Western Haryana Plains region of Haryana. It is a predominantly rural constituency. In Hisar, the Jat community is a major voting block.
Dr. Kamal Gupta of the BJP received 50.4% of the vote, compared to 34.3% of the Congress's Ram Niwas Rara. BJP's voteshare increased by 11.5% from 2014, while Congress's voteshare increased by 7.9%.
The constituency saw a 2-cornered contest, with Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress all getting a voteshare of 10% of more.
