Samajwadi Party wins in Bhiwandi East by 1,314 votes: Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019

Rais Kasam Shaikh of Samajwadi Party beats Shiv Sena's Rupesh Laxman Mhatre in Bhiwandi East

Samajwadi Party won Bhiwandi East, defeating second-placed Shiv Sena by 1314 votes. Shiv Sena had won this constituency in the previous election, but Samajwadi Party took control of the seat with a narrow margin in this election.

Bhiwandi East is in the Thane Konkan region of Maharashtra. It is a predominantly urban constituency. In Bhiwandi East, the Muslim community is a major voting block.

Rais Kasam Shaikh of the Samajwadi Party received 35.2% of the vote, compared to 34.2% of the Shiv Sena's Rupesh Laxman Mhatre. Samajwadi Party's voteshare increased by 20.7% from 2014, while Shiv Sena's voteshare increased by 6.5%.
