Samajwadi Party wins in Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar by 25,601 votes: Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019

Abu Asim Azmi of Samajwadi Party beats Shiv Sena's Vithal Govind Lokare in Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar

Samajwadi Party won Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar, defeating second-placed Shiv Sena by 25601 votes. It had also won Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar in the previous election, and retained the seat with a landslide margin.

Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar is in the Mumbai region of Maharashtra. It is a predominantly urban constituency. In Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar, the Muslim community is a major voting block.

Abu Asim Azmi of the Samajwadi Party received 48.2% of the vote, compared to 30.3% of the Shiv Sena's Vithal Govind Lokare. Samajwadi Party's voteshare increased by 15.2% from 2014, while Shiv Sena's voteshare increased by 5.2%.
