BJP wins in Vandre West by 26,507 votes: Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019

Adv. Ashish Babaji Shelar of BJP beats Congress's Asif Ahmed Zakaria in Vandre West

BJP won Vandre West, defeating second-placed Congress by 26507 votes. It had also won Vandre West in the previous election, and retained the seat with a landslide margin.

Vandre West is in the Mumbai region of Maharashtra. It is a predominantly urban constituency. In Vandre West, the Muslim community is a major voting block.

Adv. Ashish Babaji Shelar of the BJP received 57.1% of the vote, compared to 36.9% of the Congress's Asif Ahmed Zakaria. BJP's voteshare increased by 5.6% from 2014, while Congress's voteshare increased by 4.0%.

The constituency saw a 2-cornered contest, with Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress all getting a voteshare of 10% of more.
