BJP won Kamthi, defeating second-placed Congress by 11116 votes. It had also won Kamthi in the previous election, and retained the seat with a narrow margin.
Kamthi is in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It is a predominantly urban constituency. In Kamthi, the Muslim community is a major voting block.
Sawarkar Tekchand Shrawan of the BJP received 45.6% of the vote, compared to 41.3% of the Congress's Suresh Yadavrao Bhoyar. BJP's voteshare fell by 9.0% from 2014, while Congress's voteshare increased by 3.9%.
The constituency saw a 2-cornered contest, with Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress all getting a voteshare of 10% of more.
